Some photos from the 2006 Ottawa International Animation Festival. I was attending the festival courtesy of my company , Cecropia Games, Inc., (thanks to Omar Khudari , our creative founder and CEO) , so I spent a good deal of time at the Cecropia booth in the "trade show" area of the festival at the National Arts Center in Ottawa , but I saw some of the screenings and was able to get to the Awards show and final night screening of the award winning films. I wasn't able to take nearly as many photos as I had hoped , especially photos with the new friends and online acquaintances I was meeting for the first time face-to-face , so unfortunately I missed photo ops with Alan Cook, Michael Sporn, Pilar Newton, Ward Jenkins, Amid Amidi, Jerry Beck, Nick Cross , Azarin Sohrabkhani, Mark Mayerson, Ken Priebe and several others. Next year for sure !
The city of Ottawa was as charming as I remembered it and the experience made me want to come back again next year . I haven't been to any film festivals for quite some time , so this event reinvigorated my interest .
I was very happy to run into a number of old friends who I worked with in my first professional animation job , lo those many years ago in Ottawa (c. 1984- 85 ) . Also met many enthusiastic students of animation from Sheridan College (my "alma mater") , The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Concordia University , and other fine schools who were well-represented at the Ottawa festival.
